“Landscapes -in particular trees- have become a new development from decades of work in the strictly figurative realm. These works tackle many of the same large themes of my figurative work. While a study in a new medium and new methodology for being creative, these works are also representative of a deep personal importance. The idea of family trees - the ways in which history, lineage, story, and myth are handed down through generations. The way those generational familial ties are often shattered and scattered against the backdrop of history. The idea of being rooted and grounded in a place - the individuality of trees within the living community of forests. Trees as spiritual entities, keepers and guardians; living monuments of wisdom and bearers of history."
